Founder of the independent interactive media consultancy informitv, William advises clients on convergence media strategy and implementation. Previously, as head of interactive at BBC Broadcast, he operationally managed the successful launch and delivery of online and interactive television services for the BBC. Prior to that, as product manager for the new media division of the Press Association, he led the launch of their online syndication services. William began his career as a broadcast journalist, following a degree in English and a PhD in Communications from the University of Leeds.

A regular contributor to international conferences, with papers published at both IBC and NAB, William is a recognised commentator on interactive media and edits the online news service informitv.com. He is co-author of IPTV: Broadband meets broadcast - The network television revolution and the IPTV Guide.

 

Sylwia Boguszewska

Sylwia is an EMEA Analyst based at the Pyramid's London office. As part of her responsibilities, Sylwia contributes to Pyramid Telecom Insiders and Country Intelligence Reports focusing on the EMEA region. In addition, Sylwia is responsible for regularly tracking, analyzing and forecasting adoption and end-user spend in mobile, fixed and Internet services across a variety of European and African markets. Prior to joining Pyramid, Sylwia conducted an internship with a major Polish public relations firm. Sylwia holds a Master of Arts Degree from the City University, London, in Communication Policy Studies and has focused her dissertation on the comparative study of blogging practices, attitudes towards bloggers and blogging and the motivation behind creating them, both in Britain and in Poland. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology. Sylwia speaks English and Polish and is conversational in Italian and French.

 

Ian Watt

Ian Watt is Head of Fixed Line Telecoms Research at Enders Analysis. He joined Enders in 2004 and specialises in the analysis of wireline broadband and telephony markets and operators, notably BT, Virgin Media, TTG, BSkyB and C&W Worldwide. Ian has over 25 years' experience of telecoms markets in over 20 countries, and is an acknowledged expert in fixed line market analysis, particularly demand forecasting, in the context of both independent research and strategic consultancy. His work is read regularly by top management at the major UK fixed line operators, the major UK fund managers, Ofcom, major consultancies and advertising agencies.

He comments on market developments for the Financial Times newspaper and BBC television news. He is a former senior consultant with PwC in the telecoms strategy team and previously held strategy and marketing positions at BT International and ITT. Ian holds a BSc. in economics from the London School of Economics and an MBA from INSEAD.

 

Chris Stening

Chris Stening is Managing Director of Easynet Connect, one of the leading providers of quality connectivity and internet access for small to medium size businesses in the UK. Chris has been responsible for building Easynet Connect's enviable reputation for quality, innovation and excellent customer service and under his direction the company recently launched its 20-day installation pledge for its EtherStream and SureStream products, the shortest of the few installation pledges currently available on the market. Chris first started with the company in 2003 when he joined UK Online, part of the Easynet Group, to help drive its growth and development with the introduction of exciting new services based on Local Loop Unbundling.

Following the acquisition of the Easynet Group by BSkyB in early 2006 Chris took on responsibility for the development of the new Sky Broadband service launched in July 2006.

In 2007 Chris became Managing Director of UK Online, where he grew the business and expanded its customer base to include small businesses with 1-10 employees and high-end consumer users. In January 2008 he successfully launched Easynet Connect, with a focus on small to medium size companies with 11-249 employees.

Prior to his responsibilities within BSkyB, Chris worked at BT for two years as a General Manager for Product Management within BT Business and for ntl in charge of the development and execution of a new product and operation serving small businesses.

Chris has a first class BA Honours in Business Studies (with Marketing) from the University of Hertfordshire and CIM Diploma in Marketing. He has two young children and his hobbies include Running, Skiing, Motor Racing and Theatre.

 

Antony Walker

Antony is Chief Executive of the Broadband Stakeholder Group (BSG), which was set up by government to advise on the development and implementation of the UK's broadband strategy. Antony has a background in communications policy and the impact of convergence on the high tech-sector. He has been closely involved in broadband policy development since the BSG was established and is the author of several major broadband related reports to government.

The BSG is based in Intellect, the high tech trade association, where Antony is director of strategy and communications. Prior to joining Intellect, Antony spent six years working in Brussels for the American Chamber of Commerce and as a consultant to the European Commission. Antony is a graduate of Aberdeen University and has an MA from the Institute of European Studies, KU Leuven, Belgium.

 

Jeff Jones

Jeff is vice president of strategy and business development for Disney's newly formed Content Group, EMEA. The role focuses on developing and incubating new content, products and services to extend reach and to exploit new business models and convergence. The scope covers all content types (video, music, games, VWs, UGC and community) across all platforms (Internet, mobile, cable, DTH, FTA) to all devices (PC, mobile, smartphones, tablets, STB, TV, toys) through B2B, retail and D2C channels. Prior to Disney, Jeff was a telecommunications and media strategy consultant, where he lead the sale and delivery of strategic initiatives at clients such as Disney, Orange, Apple, OFCOM, Earthlink, SKT Korea, Nokia, HP and BT.

Jeff was principle consultant on the economic analysis underpinning OFCOM's first telecom strategic review. Jeff also has seven years experience in banking, holds an MBA from London Business School and a BSC Hons in Computational Physics

 

Peter Agnew

Peter Agnew has spent 23 years in the data and voice communication arena. Peter is responsible for Technology Strategy at COLT Telecom, providing direction in the development of new and innovative platforms and services. His scope and experience is across all network services including DWDM, Ethernet, IP services and Next Generation Networks and solutions.

Peter was previously at Nortel Networks for 9 years responsible for product management of data products and Internet solutions. Prior to that, Peter spent 5 years with Timeplex providing 3rd level support for TDM and Packet networking products.

 

Sharifah Amirah
Independent Technology Consultant

Sharifah Amirah is an independent technology consultant currently based in Europe. She has spent over 12 years in the telecoms industry in both Asia and Europe. Previously heading up Frost & Sullivan's European Telecoms Research Practice, Sharifah has worked with global operators in improving their go-to-market strategy and market positioning. She continues to work with operators and solution providers as a consultant. Within the wide spectrum of telecommunications, her specific interests include mobility and convergence services, analytics and environmental sustainability.

During her earlier years in Asia, she had led business units within regional public listed telecommunication companies, overseeing a spectrum of ICT products and services. Her strong financial background is reflected through her involvement in numerous corporate exercises. Sharifah has also had hands-on operational telecoms experience, having been responsible for the pioneer launch of Broadband services in Malaysia.

Over the past few years, Sharifah has presented at various industry conferences in Europe and Asia, within the Fixed-Mobile Convergence space covering topics such as Wireless Broadband, Mobility as well as Eco-Telecoms. She has also recently co-published several research papers including Mobile Advertising, Mobile Social Networks Analysis, Environmental Sustainability within Telecoms, European Broadband markets and is currently overseeing a market analysis of multi-play services across Europe. She has been quoted by various media houses including FT.Com and Forbes.

 

Jonathan Sandbach

Jonathan Sandbach received a BA lst class degree in Mathematics and Economics from the University of York, an M.Sc in Statistics passed with distinction from the London School of Economics, and a Ph.D from City University, London. He has worked in a number of roles as a professional economist for BT, Cable &Wireless and economic consulting firm NERA.

In May 2004 Dr. Sandbach joined Vodafone Group as Head of Regulatory Economics. His particular areas of focus have included economic regulation of network access.

Michael Bartholomew

Network Operators Association (ETNO)

Michael Bartholomew is Director of the European Telecommunications Network Operators' Association (ETNO), the trade association for Europe's largest e-communications operators. ETNO's 41 members in 35 European countries account for a total turnover of more than 270 billion euro and up to one million employees.

Mr. Bartholomew is a key interlocutor with European and International institutions for all policies impacting on the EU telecoms industry. As main spokesman for the industry, he is a frequent speaker on telecoms related regulatory and market developments at European and international conferences and events.

The ETNO Director runs the Brussels secretariat and coordinates the work of ETNO's 20 expert groups, developing common industry positions on key issues such as economic regulation, spectrum management, fraud and security, data protection, sustainability, content related issues, Internet Governance and social dialogue. He represents these positions at the EU and international level.

Prior to joining ETNO, Mr. Bartholomew served as Director for European Affairs for the Motion Picture Association that represents the global interests of Hollywood's major studios. Earlier, Mr. Bartholomew also funded and managed for nine years a Brussels public affairs consultancy and worked with major EU and international clients in the audiovisual and publishing sectors.

Mr. Bartholomew is member of the Cercle Royal Gaulois, the Centre for European Policy Studies and former board director of the International Press Association. For the past three years, he is a member of the Jury for the annual World Communications Award and is listed in Who's Who in the World and in Who's Who in Science and Technology.

With a master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University in Illinois, he began his career as a journalist and has worked for the Associated Press, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty. His columns on European affairs have been published in the Wall Street Journal and other leading international newspapers.

 

Naunton Dickins

Naunton has managed a variety of Internet related companies over the past fifteen years. Originally involved with a number of dot com start-ups in the mid 90's; he went on help found the first independent pan-Caribbean IP network in the West Indies.

An innovative, entrepreneurial and strategic thinker with extensive international management experience; he joins The Cloud having most recently been employed as the Managing Director of Swisscom Hospitality Networks UK.
