Bill Scott is one of the founders of easeltv and its Chief Operating and Commercial Officer. The company's vision is to enable brands to build high quality TV experiences using low-cost web components, fast. easeltv will help its clients to exploit broadband connected TVs and in doing so will help to shape the future of television. Bill created and led the IBM Digital Media Consulting & Systems Integration practice, which delivered a variety of interactive TV, IPTV and Digital Media projects over 9 years. Bill personally managed end-to-end business-driven projects that often started with strategy and moved through execution to operation.

EaseltvIn this role, Bill conceived the original idea behind Project Canvas for the BBC. Bill left IBM in June 2009 to focus on easeltv. Bill has 25 years experience of managing IT projects to deliver business value.

 

Dan Cryan

Dan Cryan is a Senior Analyst specialising in music, online movies and the technical issues surrounding the distribution of digital content. He authored the Screen Digest reports Online Music: Market Assessment and Forecasts and Broadband Digital Movies: European market assessment and forecasts, and has been instrumental in developing many of the models used in the online Broadband Intelligence service including online movies and online TV. Dan has also been involved in a number of consultancy assignments for clients including Microsoft and the European Commission, and has spoken at international conferences on subjects including IPTV and digital content.

ScreendigestBefore joining Screen Digest in 2004, Dan worked in marketing. He has a bachelor's and master's degree in Philosophy from University College London and is the author of a book Introducing Logic (2002) which has been translated into several languages.

Cesar Bachelet joined Analysys Mason in August 2008. He is the lead analyst for Analysys Mason's Consumer Content and Applications research programme, which focuses on the opportunities and challenges faced by fixed and mobile operators in an era of growing convergence between the telecoms and media industries. Cesar has 20 years' experience of the telecoms industry, and specialises in triple-play services. He has conducted research and delivered presentations on a wide range of topics, including fixed voice, broadband and video services, as well as bundling and convergence strategies. Most recently, his research has focused on IPTV, cable and over-the-top video services.

Analysys MasonBefore joining Analysys Mason, Cesar worked for various analyst companies, including Ovum. He has also worked for the telecoms operator BT, where he held a range of positions, including those of Competitor Analyst in the Consumer Division (now BT Retail) and Market Analyst in BT Ignite's ASP (application service provision) unit (now BT Global Services). Cesar has a degree from the Open University, with a specialisation in politics, economics and history.

 

Jeanette Carlsson

Jeanette Carlsson leads the New Media Business Consulting Practice at IBM Global Business Services and is account director for IBM's BSKYB account. In her current role, she is responsible for sales and delivery of business strategy and transformation engagements to Tier 1 brands within the New Media space with focus on Mobile, Mobile web, Web, Web 2.0, Social Media, Digital Marketing, Business Model Innovation, Customer Insight and IBM’s Smart Planet agenda, leveraging her 17 years in the communications space.

Prior to her current role, Jeanette led IBM's European Telecom Value Creation team with responsibility for IBM's largest strategic/transformation deals with European communications service providers and for a number of years headed up IBM's Global Communications Sector think tank. Prior to her career at IBM, Jeanette held leading roles in the telecom, media and technology practices at PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting, Coopers & Lybrand and the European Commission in Brussels.

Jeanette is a frequent speaker at leading industry events and has published widely on top-of-mind strategic issues facing brands in the convergence space. Jeanette speaks several European languages, holds a B.Sc & MA in Economics, and is currently completing a Diploma in Advanced Strategy at University of Oxford.

 

Sarah Rose

Sarah Rose began her career in television as a Graduate Management Trainee in Carlton Television after graduating from Trinity College Oxford with a first class degree in English and French. She spent two years working on projects throughout the company, covering business, finance, news and production. She then "graduated" off the scheme into a position as Channel Development Executive in Carlton Digital Channels, which at the time had two other employees and four months in which to launch three channels. Carlton Kids, Carlton World and Carlton Cinema were born and run alongside Carlton Food Network and Sarah then held a variety of positions in channel management and commissioning before becoming General Manager of Carlton Cinema. She then moved to Carlton Head Office and worked on restructuring and then closing On Digital before becoming involved in the licence bid for the DTT licences which led to Freeview. Her next move was to ITV Network Centre where she was Carlton's shareholder representative on the ITV Digital Channels. She relaunched ITV2 and managed the ITV News Channel before the merger between Carlton and Granada. She then became General Manager of ITV Digital Channels and oversaw the launch of ITV3, ITV 4 and CITV, responsible for the commercial and operational performance of the portfolio of channels.

Sarah moved into her current post in Channel 4 in May 2006. She oversaw the launch of 4OD on Virgin Media in October 2006, and our own downloadable PC application two months later. BT Vision and Homechoice quickly followed, with I-Tunes the following year and YouTube in 2009. She spent the best part of two years working on Project Kangaroo, whose fate was to be prohibited by the Competition Commission. The channels side of her job has seen her launch C4+1, 4Music and C4HD in a groundbreaking deal with Sky, to be followed shortly by E4HD. She was involved in the 50% acquisition of Box channels from Emap and is now on the Board of the JV. She is also on the Board of Freeview and involved in Project Canvas. She was resident on the Advanced Management Programme at INSEAD earlier in 2009, sponsored by C4.

 

Lucas Bauge

Lucas Bauge is Head of Strategy at Orange, supporting the board in shaping Orange strategy across its mobile and fixed arms in the UK. Lucas joined the France Telecom Group early 2002 through its business development unit in London before joining the ISP Wanadoo UK (ex-Freeserve), where he held various positions in the CEO office and marketing.

Prior to joining the France Telecom Group, Lucas was a consultant with Siticom (now Devoteam) where he supported clients entering the Telecoms market as well as in the areas of 3G and billing. Lucas graduated from Telecom SudParis in France and holds an MSc in Mobile Communications from the University of Surrey.

 

Peter Bale

Peter Bale is the Executive Producer of Microsoft UK, responsible for content on platforms including MSN UK - the largest commercial portal in the UK. He joined Microsoft from News Corporation where he was online editorial director of The Times and The Sunday Times.

He was a founder of FTMarketWatch.com and was a Reuters correspondent and editor for most of his career.

 

Dr Mohammed Dadas

Mohammed DADAS joined France Telecom at the R&D division where he worked on "Networks protocols". He moved to the Networks Division where he contributed to the deployment of the ATM Backbone, and was responsible of the real time supervision in the network management center.

Mohammed DADAS worked on defining the operation processes for the end to end services of the France Telecom portfolio. Prior to that, he was in charge of the operations of the France telecom world wide backbone network in Europe, Asia and North America.

Mohammed DADAS used to chair the ITU-T European Services and Networks Operation Conference and the ITU-T Network management Topic Group at Service and Network Operation (SNO), and is now Vice-President of the Open IPTV Forum (OIPF) and Board director of the Open Mobile Terminal Platform (OMTP).

Currently, Mohammed DADAS is in charge of standardisation activities in the Access to content domain, and is involved in multiple fora working in this field (OMA, OIPF, OMTP, W3C, ..). Mohammed DADAS Holds a Master of Engineering in Telecommunication from "Telecom Lille".

Eurosport is distributed in 118m homes across Europe, broadcasting in 20 languages in 59 countries, and Eurosport's HD channel, launched in 2008, is the most widely distributed HD sports channel in Europe. Eurosport launched a catch-up service in 2008. Dan is responsible for channel and content distribution for the Eurosport Group in the UK and Ireland, and developing the growth of the British Eurosport business.

Prior to his role at Eurosport Dan worked with BBC Broadcast / Red Bee Media, Australia's Telstra Corporation, Sportal Australia and the Fairfax publishing group.

Steve Plunkett is the Director of Customer Innovation at Red Bee Media. Steve focuses on the development of new commercial solutions and services that enhance and extend Red Bee Media's next-generation propositions for any company wanting to engage their audience through video media. Key areas of focus include the convergence of traditional television and media with the online world and what this means for content owners, brand owner, broadcasters and their customers.

Steve has over 17 years of experience identifying, developing and architecting commercial solutions and services in a range of industries including fixed/mobile telecoms, global enterprises and digital media organisations with a focus on converged/next-generation IP solutions.

Before joining Red Bee, Steve spent nine years at Motorola in the role of Chief Architect of the Future Solutions Group with a focus on connected home, IPTV, telecoms infrastructure, converged networks, internet platforms and advanced mobile devices solutions.

 

Steve Morris

Steve is an experienced software architect in the area of interactive digital TV, and has contributed extensively to the MHP, Open IPTV Forum and HbbTV.

Before joining ANT, he worked for a number of major players in the digital TV industry, including Philips Electronics and ADB. Steve is the author of "Interactive TV Standards: A Guide to MHP, OCAP and JavaTV".

 

Alex Gulland

Previously Alex was the founding Creative Partner for Ogilvy Entertainment London. She worked as a branded content creative across the Ogilvy group of companies. She joined Ogilvy in 2006.

Alex began working in the Entertainment industry in 1981 with Rogers and Cowan International representing celebrities such as Peter Ustinov, Joan Collins, Elton John, David Hockney and Joni Mitchell. In the late 1980's Alex turned her hand to the world of funding and financing of entertainment properties through product placement and movie promotions working with the Rogers and Cowan Entertainment Division, based in Shepperton Studios, representing brands such as Coca-Cola, Seagram's, Ford Motor Company, Nestle Rowntree, RJ Reynolds and JB Whiskey within the film and television industry. Alex was lured to Howell Henry Chaldecott Lury and Partners (HHCL & P) during the early 1990's to be made a partner of HHCL & P and Creative Director of their alternative marketing department - Environment Marketing - Tango, Martini, Mazda and KPMG are just some of the accounts she worked on at HHCL.

In the late 1990's Alex left to set up Showcase International a company that connected major brands to the film/television industry. She established relationships for brands with some of the top production companies in the world. Alex set up Showcase Int offices in the UK, France, Germany, Amsterdam, Italy and Spain. She worked with many high profile feature film productions such 'Wag The Dog', 'Mr Bean', 'Shooting Fish', 'Entrapment', and 'Bridget Jones' Dairies'.

In early 2000 Alex set up Wunjo Entertainment with Russell Jarman Price. At Wunjo Entertainment Alex worked as a creative/producer on projects such as 'Baby Talk', an 80 minute tv production targeted at young mothers and also worked closely with Manchester United, WPP, Lloyds TSB, Pfizer and Rolls Royce. In early 2005 she established a relationship with Intel and Microsoft which provided her clients with 'first mover advantage' on the ownership of Channels on the worldwide Vista network.

Alex now runs Contented Brands collaborating with high profile production companies and broadcasters to create, develop and produce programming that satisfy both the needs of brands and broadcasters.

 

Melanie Stewart

Melanie Stewart is Director of wireless and broadband technologies for Turner Broadcasting System Inc., (TBS, Inc). In this capacity, she is responsible for research and development activities for Turner Broadcasting Europe in the areas of mobile/wireless, broadband, advertising, Internet protocol television (IPTV) and games.

Prior to joining Turner in early 2007, Stewart spent three years working for Vodafone Global in Duesseldorf, Germany. Most recently, she worked on Vodafone’s global mobile television and video strategy. While at Vodafone, she also established an Innovation Programme, ensuring differentiation and feature set evolution for upcoming mobile devices.

Stewart has over 13 years experience spread across Australia and Europe and holds a bachelor of applied science in computer science from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) University in Melbourne, Australia. She also holds a Certificate of Management Leadership from RMIT.

Stewart also represents Turner at the "Broadcast Mobile Convergence Forum" (bmcoforum) which is an international non-profit organisation designed to shape open markets for media delivery.

Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., a Time Warner company, is a major producer of news and entertainment product around the world and the leading provider of programming for the basic cable industry.

BBC Vision

Troy was appointed as BBC Vison's first Head of Content Release in January 2010, a role bringing together responsibility for the scheduling and editorial management of all Vision content, beyond its core TV channels, including BBC iPlayer, public service archive and secondary commercial services, both linear and non-linear. He also oversees scheduling of short-form content and interactive television services.

Previously, he worked in television production, on-air marketing and as a newspaper and magazine journalist.

 

Dave Wilkinson

Dave Wilkinson has spent nearly 30 years in the networking industry holding senior positions in both Service Provider and vendor organizations. This breath of understanding has provided insight into the requirements of the end user and has enabled Dave to translate those requirements into strategies for the development of network infrastructure. For the last 10 years Dave has been working in the development of Carrier Ethernet architectures enabling Service Providers take advantages of the benefits of Ethernet in the Carrier environment.

Dave is currently Director of Network Architecture for ECI Telecom, a global provider of end-to-end network infrastructure.
